Finding Hope

Leading the Hope Center Rebrand:

At the end of 2021, The Hope Center planned a total visual identity rebrand. This required a logo replacement, retiring their original logo, for something cleaner, more vibrant, and modern. This blog will briefly explore this logo design process.

Learning the Client:

The Hope Center (LINK) is a research organization, partnered with Temple University (LINK) whose focus on the basic needs of students in higher education, has led the charge in making REALCHANGE for REALSTUDENTS.

It's so important to understand your clients' purpose and messaging. Establishing those major themes will help influence the new logo's first concepts.

This is also a good time to explore similar brands. In this case, there are dozens of other "Hope Centers" located in the States. This will serve a dual purpose in inspiring early concepts, as well as avoiding too many similarities to other established brands.

Early Design Concepts:

In this stage, the main priority is to build a wide variety of concepts. None of these designs are meant to be a final product, and these concepts will often exclude color. (See Figure 2 for example)

Client feedback is crucial to deduce wasted time in the next stage. So being decisive in expressing what you do, or don't like will simplify the creative process.

Final Design:

Once a concept is moved to final design, elements like the color scheme are locked in, you will have a final opportunity to request changes.

Style Guide 1-Pager:

The final step in this design process is to build a unique, comprehensive 1-pager. This will include all of your logos vital elements such as, fonts, weights, hex color codes, etc. Your 1-pager may also include variations, as well as best practices when using your logo.
